IIM Amritsar, a force to reckon with!

Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Amritsar is the fifteenth IIM set up by the Ministry of Human Resources Development with the help of the Government of Punjab. The principal batch for the class of 2015-17 was enrolled in August 2015. For the initial few years, IIM Amritsar was mentored by IIM Kozhikode, 5th oldest IIM in the country before its Director, Prof. Nagarajan Ramamoorthy took charge of the institute in 2019.

Situated in Amritsar, the place that is known for the Golden Temple and Wagah Border, the institute benefits from the enriching experience offered by this holy city. The institute is at present run in the Punjab Institute of Technology Building, 5 km away from the railroad station and 10 from the air terminal. Its perpetual grounds are developed around 7 km from the ISBT and 8.5 km from the railroad station, making it effectively accessible.

IIM Amritsar, at present, offers a Post Graduate Program in Management. This program has been intended to give world-class management education in order to meet the requirements of enterprises across sectors by producing highly insightful management professionals. To give a glimpse of placements at the institute, IIM Amritsar, the biggest, as far as the batch size among the third generation IIMs, finished final placements for the 2017-19 batch with a median pay of Rs 12 lakh and a highest pay of Rs 21 lakh. While the median compensation went up 14.3% from Rs 10.5 lakh a year ago, the most elevated local offer enlisted a 23.5% jump from a year ago of Rs 17 lakh. The domestic average of the batch also increased by 10.7% from Rs 11.02 lakh in 2016-18 to Rs 12.2 lakh this year.

Due to the diverse background and skill set of the students, the institute saw participation from more than 52 recruiters including many first-timers. Recruiters included Accenture, Anand Rathi, Apollo Munich, CRISIL, Deloitte, GroupM, OYO, HDFC Bank, ICICI Lombard, KPMG, Motilal Oswal, Tata Teleservices, Thomas Cook, Essar Group and Trident, among others. Offers were made in domains of Marketing, Finance, Operations, Analytics, Consulting, General Management. BFSI, IT/ITES, consulting, telecommunications, consumer goods, advertising media were among the most active sectors.
